When considering enrolling on a course at North West Regional College you have access to a range of information and advice service made available to you through the Colleges Student Services; these include information and advice on financial support, careers guidance, pastoral care and learning support

Student Services can provide part-time students with advice and guidance on the following issues:

Career Guidance
Careers guidance is available to those who are considering their career options and also to those who enrol on College courses. The College Careers Service staff will provide guidance to help you decide on which courses are most suitable to your interests and career aspirations.
The College provides a comprehensive range of information including magazines, leaflets, videos, prospectuses and computer software to help students make their choices. On course careers programmes include special seminars with guest speakers from universities, educational visits and careers fairs.
Advice and guidance is available to students applying to university or College based Higher Education programmes. This will be through one – to one interviews and group application information sessions. If you are applying to university you are advised to familiarise yourself with the application information made available by the different admissions organisations; these include University and Colleges Application Service (UCAS) and Central Application Office (CAO)

Student Counselling Service
The College Student Counselling Service adheres to professional practice guidelines as determined by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. The Service provided an opportunity for students to address those issues which are impacting their well being and to develop insight into how they might be best managed.

We have a dedicated team on hand to provide all students with additional support to assist you completing your studies. More information will be available on the range of support services available during the induction session of your course.
Specialist support is available for students with physical and learning disabilities. We welcome students with a variety of abilities and will make every effort to help you with your study needs.Applicants should ensure that the College is fully informed of any disability or special needs to enable us to meet with you on an individual basis before enrolment.

You may be entitled to some help in paying the tuition fee, or other costs associated with your studies. Check the Fees & Finance page to check if you are eligible to claim our Reduced (Concessionary) Fees.
Student Support Fund(Means Tested)
Support Funds are available to provide help for students who have financial difficulties, which would prevent them from entering or continuing on a course of study. The fund may provide financial assistance with Tuition and Examination fees, Travel, Books, Materials, Childcare and Living costs. (This is not a loan; it does not have to be paid back.)
To be eligible you must:
- be 19 or over or attain the age of 19 during the academic year
- be enrolled on a part-time nationally validated vocational course of 6 hours or more.
- first have applied to other relevant sources of funding if your course is 8 hours per week or more (e.g. StudentfinanceNI for an FE Award)
- meet residency requirements
- EU students may get assistance with course fees only

Part-Time Higher Education Grant (UK Students)
Part-time Higher Education students can apply for financial help. Your entitlement will depend on your income and that of your spouse/partner. StudentfinanceNI will work out how much support you can get. (You are not entitled to apply for this help if you already have a degree.)

Lone Parents: Choices Plus
Gingerbread's 'Choices-Plus' Project assists lone parents on part-time courses who are in receipt of income support with the cost of course fees, childcare, meals and travel.

Care to Learn (Help with Childcare Costs)
Parents aged 16-20, taking a full-time or part-time FE course, may be eligible for Childcare assistance.
Students in receipt of or eligible for other childcare support (Child Tax Credits, Childcare Grant etc.) are not eligible for assistance from the scheme (NI). Residence criteria applies, and Childcare providers must be registered.
